Welcome to my tiny corner of the world. Here you will find brief reviews, my opinions, on books I read. You will also find interviews with authors to gain insight into the mind behind the works. Enjoy your time here and hopefully you’ll find a new treasure.
I get a bit of help reading and reviewing certain books. Who best to tell you if a book geared towards children is actually interesting to a child’s mind, but a child? I have two older children and one younger child who are also avid readers and enjoy offering their opinions.
At times I’ll receive a request to review a book I’m not particularly fond of due to my own moods or preferences and the sort of genre my book loving friends adore. At those times, unless the submitting individual requests otherwise, the book is actually read by someone other than myself. I then discuss with them what they liked and didn’t like about the book, compose the review (sometimes in my own words) and post it. I will strive to always make mention in the review who read it.

Where do I get these books? A variety of places including publishers, authors, publicists, Goodreads and NetGalley. I am never compensated in any way in return for an honest review. These are my opinions freely given. In accordance with FCC guidelines: Every post should include a line stating I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review, or that I own the book, but being human I sometimes forget to include that line with the review.
Every review is my intellectual property. As the writer of this blog I herby state that my reviews are not to be copied or shared unless you have my express permission.

If you have a book you would like me to review, feel free to send one. I can promise I will consider reading your book and if I accept it, I can promise it will be read and reviewed. I cannot, however, promise the review will be favorable or provide a set timeline.

If you would like a review and would be willing to donate a physical copy of your book for our local library please send your book to the address above. Physical copies are highly appreciated as budgets are very limited and there is always a large population of patrons eagerly awaiting that next great book. I can promote your book within the library with bookmarks and other small items. Our patrons LOVE bookmarks.

Why donate to a library? If my word isn’t enough that it’s important take a fellow author’s word for it. Michael Ransom, Author of The Ripper Gene: A Novel, during an interview had this to say…

  • Reviews are important, but what about public libraries?

“They’re similarly important.  I recently ran a book giveaway and was impressed by how many people were going to get their copy of The Ripper Gene through a library if they didn’t win.  The libraries have to purchase their copies, so if you’re book is in high demand, it generates sales and the revenue necessary to sustain future books.  More importantly, having your book in libraries helps simply by amplifying word-of-mouth… which is that often-cited, poorly understood phenomenon that seems vital to almost all the successes in this industry today.”

I do not accept payment or any sort of compensation beyond the free copy of the book to be reviewed. At times a book might be part of a series. In that case I will accept (and prefer) copies of the previous books in the series in order to better understand and enjoy the current book.

    My name is Dan Logan. I’m a first-time author publishing a nonfiction book titled The Dance Dragon. A few years ago, I knew nothing about dance. I’d never even felt the urge to dance. In fact, after several dreadful experiences in my youth when dragons seemed to be guarding the school’s dance floor, I managed to avoid dancing for all of my adult life. But, when my daughter announced she was getting married, I knew the inevitable was coming: a father-daughter dance.I must face the dragon.

    After many starts and stops,I found the courage to walk into a dance studio and take a lesson to prepare for that one wedding dance. Everything I thought about ballroom dancing and my priorities in life started to change. I found myself enjoying moments on the dance floor at my daughter’s wedding and decided I must leave my comfort zone and make a serious effort to learn and experience something new. I dance with more than a thousand women at various studio parties and group lessons, travelled to rural Cuba to better understand the feel of the dance, and ultimately to Washington D.C. where I participated in a major competitive dance event and had my final confrontation with the Dance Dragon.

    The Dance Dragon is about the struggle, joy, and freedom that learning to do something we never imagined we could do provides. The story portrays the people and the supportive culture that comprise the ballroom world and most importantly, how dancing makes a person feel.The Dance Dragon is informative, humorous and in a world where people spend an ever-increasing amount of time interacting online, reminds us all that physically connecting with another human being is still the most powerful way to communicate our true emotions.

    Thank you for the important work you do for us authors, and for promoting libraries. When I was a child my mother took us to the library biweekly where we could choose 4-5 books of our choice. I still visit the library frequently and it’s an important institution that needs all our support.

    I hope it is ok to follow suit and post my review request here for my new book, Day Moon.

    Set in AD 2039, a prodigious seventeen year old, Elliott, is assigned to work on a global soft-ware initiative his deceased grandfather helped found. Project Alexandria is intended to provide the entire world secure and equal access to all accumulated human knowledge. All forms of print are destroyed in good faith, to ensure everyone has equal footing, and Elliott knows he must soon part with his final treasure: a book of Shakespeare’s complete works gifted him by his grandfather. Before it is destroyed, Elliott notices something is amiss with the book, or rather Project Alexandria. The two do not match, including an extra sonnet titled “Day Moon”. When Elliott investigates, he uncovers far more than he bargained for. There are sinister forces backing Project Alexandria who have no intention of using it for its public purpose. Elliott soon finds himself on the run from federal authorities and facing betrayals and deceit from those closest to him.     Like many others, I came across your site on the bookrevieweryellowpages and decided to contact you.

    My novel, The Book of Moon, has been out on Amazon for a couple of months, and has risen as high as #44 on the list of Humorous Literary Fiction.

    Though I intended this coming-of-age story for young adults, it actually seems to have greater appeal to those of us with more perspective on the experience of growing up. If you read the first chapter (a bit over three pages), you’ll have a good idea whether this book would be worth your time or not.

    and selected it because you review fantasy. I classify my new book,Zombie Turkeys, as a ‘comic urban fantasy’, but it could also be called a ‘comic romance’ or a ‘comic thriller romance’. I suppose I’ll find out your opinion when you review it.
