My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one is a mix of good and iffy. The writing, outside of dialogue, is solid and easy to follow for any reader. The dialogue doesn’t feel realistic or appropriate to the setting at times. The historical aspect is also a mix with some very well done descriptions and settings along with certain parts that didn’t sit right with me. Granted, I’m not a historian but it was noticeable enough to bug me. The story is a blend of heartwarming and tugging at the heartstrings that I feel many readers will enjoy. Overall, the plot threads are well weaved and brought to a satisfying conclusion – no unanswered questions or cliffhangers here. I did like that the romance aspect wasn’t insta-love. I received an ARC through the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion, which is my own and may or may not agree with your own.
