The Return by Suzanne Woods Fisher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the third in a series and is not intended to be read as a standalone. I highly recommend you read Anna’s Crossing and The Newcomer prior to The Return. Fisher certainly knows her craft and it shows in everything she writes. This series is another prime example of how to create endearing characters that resound in our hearts and stick with us long after the read. It’s a blend of historical fiction, Amish fiction, and romance with perfect measurements of each. The setting is richly detailed and brought to life with well-developed characters and a well-weaved plot thread. I especially like that the Native Americans were not all made out to be horrible people. Overall, this series is rather enjoyable and eloquently written. I received an ARC through Revell in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
