A Sweet Misfortune by Maggie Brendan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a very simple, easy, lighthearted read. There are no mysterious plot threads to keep track of, no gasps or breath-holding moments, no pulling for your dearest character to conquer the challenge. It is just the basic story of love at first sight, or nearly first, and being too stubborn to acknowledge how you feel. It’s written cleanly and with a good grasp of the English language. While not a scholar, it also feels as though Brendan has captured a part of the essence of the old West. Overall this is a quick entertaining read worth adding to the library. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review through Revell Reads. This in no way influenced my opinion.
