This book was presented to me in exchange for my honest opinion. No additional payment or other means of persuasion have been, or will be, received. This wasn’t an easy book to read and review. I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to grammar and other writing mistakes. There were plenty of these scattered throughout the book and a handful of mistakes in German as well. Setting these aside, the read didn’t flow easily. The format made for a jerky and sometimes disjointed feel which often set me outside the experience as opposed to being immersed in the story. It felt more like a collection of pieces than a well thought through story. I didn’t find the characters to be all that believable either, although this may have something more to do with the format than anything else. As for the story itself, it seems authentic; as far as an alternate history can be authentic and as far as I can determine based on the disjointed format. While I’m sure there are those who enjoy this type of book, I for one am not fond of it in the slightest. This is my opinion, which may or may not mirror your own.
