The Mask: A Vanessa Michael Munroe Novel by Taylor Stevens

I found out after the fact that this is actually part of a series. It’s supposed to also be able to be read as a stand-alone but I would not recommend it. I felt like I missed huge chunks of details about the characters and how their relationships have developed. There was no explanation for why they acted the way they did towards each other. This is vital for being able to connect with a character and without it I just felt lost the entire read. That said, the writing is very good and the pace is fierce. I love the descriptions and the way the plot threads weave through to the end. I received an ARC through BloggingForBooks in exchange for an honest review.
