Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold (Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency, #1)Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold by Iain Reading
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one is full of promise and potential but falls short on several aspects. First, the target audience mark seems to be missed. Either this is for younger readers and the main character is too old, or this is for YA readers and the writing is aimed too low. That in itself won’t fail a book but coupled with other issues it may have a difficult time gaining a following. Some of the background and information dumps felt out of place and a bit long, again this depends on the target audience. Kitty is difficult to connect with and could use a bit of polish. Overall it’s interesting enough to continue reading and if you make it past the half-way mark it picks up quite a bit. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion, which may or may not mirror your own.
