At first and through the first three quarters of this book I wasn’t sure about liking it just a little or just liking it enough to finish reading the rest. I’m not a fan of lack of details but I think I understand the authors reasoning behind that for this particular book. The setting isn’t important to the plot and could serve as a distraction from the point of the book. That said, I would have rated this a fourth star had the world development been implemented. The characters are nicely fleshed out and have their own quirks but a lot of what they do and say, and how they say or don’t say it, doesn’t make much sense until later in the book. I don’t feel this book is worthy of the high praise and comparison, especially to nineteen eighty four, but I do feel it is a decent read that many will enjoy and take something from the experience.
