The first time I looked through this book I thought how wonderful this would be for a first time parent struggling with children who seem to be anything but what they should. I didn’t give it much more than a cursory glance through that first time. Each subsequent time I picked it up to read and review I found myself easily distracted with my children and other parts of life that always seem to demand my attention. I eventually forgot about the book. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine was asking me for advice on how to handle a situation developing with one of her children that I thought about this book. I brought it with me that evening and together we looked up a relevant topic. We ended up going through a bit more of the book that night, with pauses for prayer and tending to the needs of family. I left the book with her. The next time we sat down together she told me this book has changed her life. No more does she feel frazzled and unsure how to handle each crisis with one of her children. Instead, she turns to this book and with prayer she feels confident she’s making the right choices. Her children are much happier and headed in the right direction. Just seeing her less stressed makes me feel great. So, no, I didn’t read and review this book but I can say with all honesty that it’s a great resource and a perfect gift for any patent. I originally received a free copy through Baker Publishing in exchange for a review but I have since purchased two more copies for two families who I feel could really use this.
